"Joining alliances and taking on client states are not necessarily anti-libertarian (and they are definitely anti-nationalist)...”

This appears to explicitly state that nationalism, in whatever form, rejects all alliances. Is this true? Is this what you mean?

Nope, that's not what I mean.

Then would you mind explaining what you do mean by “Joining alliances...[is] definitely anti-nationalist”? I don’t think I’m misrepresenting what you wrote by excerpting that quote.

I'm short on time these days, alas. It seems like a pretty straightforward statement of fact, though. What about it confuses you?

Your sentence parses such that, if I’m a nationalist, and I join an alliance, then I’m being anti-nationalist; therefore, I should reject alliances. Yet you deny that this is what you mean.

Am I missing something?

Yeah, it's the "therefore, I should reject alliances" part.

Alliances are pragmatic, so don't reject them out of hand! They are by definition, though, anti-nationalist. Apologies for any confusion on my part.
